I had a second appointment scheduled here today for a crown procedure on my front teeth with Dr Lynch. After being brought back and sat down, a new, different dentist came in and said they would be doing the “delivery.” I was surprised that no one mentioned this ahead of time, Dr Lynch was in the room next door working with another patient. If the office had called and told me Dr Lynch was double booked I could have easily rescheduled but the first time I was made aware of the change in my appointment was when a new dentist came into the room. It is concerning that they changed my dentist without my consent and did not notify me before the appointment - no one asked my permission to have someone else work on me and it put me in an awkward position of being confused, surprised and uncomfortable before any work even began. They left me no option to say no or to ask for my original dentist, I didn’t imagine working with the new dentist would be so difficult but now I wish I had just been firm and said no to her and that I wanted to wait for Dr Lynch. Ultimately, the lack of consent and notification were unacceptable and created an awkward situation that made the outcome of the appointment even more unpleasant. I think it is unethical not to give someone the opportunity to consent to a change in their doctor in a non-emergency situation. I had spoken at length with Dr Lynch about the new crowns at my first appointment and the crowns the new dentist put in were clearly not a proper fit, which was only visible after my temporaries had been removed (painfully.) I learned after the temps were removed that they had a model of my teeth with the new crowns in it - I don’t understand why that model wasn’t reviewed and discussed with me before my temps were pulled off, as the issues with the shape of the new crowns were pretty immediately visible and it could have saved me the pain of having to do all this a second time. Once it was obvious the crowns didn’t fit, Dr Lynch came over to look at them and determine what changes needed to be made and noted that they weren’t made right based on her original instructions to the lab - again, I don’t understand why the crowns weren’t reviewed ahead of time, was that the first time that anyone had even looked at them? Wouldn’t you assume they’d do some kind of basic review/preparation before pulling my teeth out? The new dentist did not explain things clearly or patiently and answered my questions coldly with dental jargon as if the answers were obvious. They also did not numb me enough and I had to continually tell them I was feeling pain - after the last time I said this her response was “well you shouldn’t be,” which felt dismissive and uncaring. If this process absolutely has to be done twice I’d rather do it with the dentist I’m already comfortable with, who knows my specific needs and communicates well - not someone who has no context for the situation and treats me like a box they’re checking off or a piece of meat instead of a person deserving of respect. It’s not like an oil change, it’s a major procedure that affects my daily functioning and appearance. My gums are literally black and blue from today’s appointment, they look and feel awful, the temp crowns were put back in ugly and crooked with a huge hole in between them and now I have to come back and do it all over again in two weeks. I think many things could have gone much better and I hope that my future experiences here improve because I have to finish the process here now that’s it’s started, but I’d be very cautious about doing any major work here, there are clearly some big opportunities for patient communication, experience and scheduling. I hope that the office and practice will take this feedback to heart, I believe everyone there is well intentioned but the lack of thought and care in my experience today was beyond disappointing.

I have never left a negative review, but my experience with this office was extremely disappointing and I feel compelled to warn other people. Due to an insurance change, I had to go to this office for the first time this week, where in a routine cleaning, my retainer was damaged by the hygienist. The dentist attempted to fix it and told me it was fine. However, when I later saw my orthodontist because it still did not feel right, I was informed that the retainer was in fact broken and would need to be replaced. When I called the office to discuss what had happened, the interaction with the office manager was even more concerning than the original issue. Rather than listening to my concerns, she repeatedly interrupted me and spoke to me in a way that I found dismissive and unprofessional. I’ve never been treated that way by a healthcare office. Accidents can happen, and I would have appreciated an honest conversation and a respectful effort to resolve the situation, given that I had to pay nearly $200 for a new retainer. Instead, I left feeling unheard and disappointed by how my concerns were handled. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this practice.

Went in for extraction and they numbed my mouth then took me to desk for payment. It’s difficult to communicate while your mouth and lips are numb. The extraction didn’t work, then the dentist says I need to go to oral surgeon. Following the botched extraction, no temporary for extracted tooth. Next they wanted $2600 for work I was going to have done on next appointment!!! Also, had to return because bleeding hadn’t stopped from tooth that was pulled. Worst experience ever.

Going here was like going to a family doctor. The ENTIRE STAFF!!! was great. I can't believe I'm going to say this but I'm actually looking forward to going back on August 5th. They take the time to talk to you and explain what is being done and what will be charged. Truely very satisfied with my visit and look forward to my repairs on my teeth

Dr Kamps and staff are the best! We have been going to Algonquin Dental for several years could not be more pleased with our experience. We are fortunate to have found such a professional, caring, and skilled practice with the latest in dental technology. Highly recommend!

The dentist is professional and has a great sense of humor. Great staff, organized office and very knowledgeable. Most of all, they give you a realistic expectation regarding treatments and potential risks. I found them last minute looking to finish up work from a previous office (crown, fillings). So far so good after my last visit a few weeks ago. I highly recommend.

Dr. Kamps and his office staff are fantastic. Never had to wait more than a few minutes for my scheduled appointment, and most of the time if I'm early I get in early. He is friendly fast and most of all very good at what he does. Generally it is always a pain free experience. If your looking for a new dentist look no further. You will not be anything but glad you switched or started your dental health with this office.
